The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
